Chorionic gonadotropin is a gonadotropic hormone produced by the placenta and excreted in the urine. After extraction, the hormone is purified. Human chorionic gonadotropin supports the normal and full development of the placenta, stimulates the production of the hormone progesterone by the corpus luteum. It has a luteinizing, gonadotropic effect. Stimulates the synthesis of progesterone and estrogens, causes ovulation. In men, it enhances spermatogenesis and stimulates the production of sex steroid hormones. The drug promotes the lowering of the testicles with cryptorchidism.
